Walk Among Wildlife at Cahuita National Park

After your canal adventure, a comfortable transfer takes you to Cahuita National Park, a paradise where rainforest meets coral reef. Cahuita—named from the indigenous words kawe (mahogany) and ta (point)—was established in 1970 to protect Costa Rica’s largest living reef system. With 123 species of fish, dazzling corals, and abundant tropical forest, it’s a haven for nature lovers.

Upon arriving in the charming coastal town of Cahuita, you’ll embark on a relaxed 45-minute guided nature walk along a shady coastal trail. This flat path is ideal for all ages and offers excellent chances to spot capuchin monkeys, sloths, toucans, colorful frogs, and more—all set against a backdrop of pristine beaches and lush jungle.

On the return journey to Puerto Limón, enjoy a quick stop at local souvenir shops where you can pick up handcrafted keepsakes or gifts from the Caribbean coast.
